Dear patients, dear all,
You may have noticed that I have unfortunately been absent from the practice for some time. I would therefore like to share a personal update with you.
I started working as a doctor’s assistant in 2010, and later had the opportunity to grow into the role of practice nurse. I have worked with great pleasure for 15 years with Dr. Kersten. The transfer of the practice to Dr. Schippers felt like a new chapter that I was really looking forward to. I have always said that I would not leave after the takeover — and that is still true. I am still here, but something significant is currently happening in my life.
Unfortunately, my health has decided otherwise. At the end of 2024, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Due to the symptoms and limitations that come with this condition, it is currently not possible for me to hold my consultations (with a heavy heart). I want you to know that I am doing everything I can to return. The practice and my work mean a great deal to me, and it is no coincidence that I have been working here with such dedication for over 16 years.
At the moment, I am focusing on treatment abroad: an HSCT treatment. This treatment is hardly available in the Netherlands, and unfortunately I am not yet eligible for it here. For this reason, I have started a GoFundMe page, where you can also find more information about my situation and the treatment. The goal of this treatment is to stop the progression of my MS, so that I can regain my life. The results so far are promising.
I have received permission to share my GoFundMe on the practice website. Every small contribution can help me make this treatment possible. Through the link below, you can read my story and, if you wish, support me:
I sincerely hope that I will be able to return to my work in the future and support you again where needed.
With love,
Denise
