Dear all,
For the past one and a half years, I have been working as a substitute GP in the practice of Dr. Kersten. The time has now come for Dr. Kersten to transfer the practice. Over the past year and a half, things have gone so well that I am proud to say I will be taking over from Dr. Kersten. Many of you may already know me (and I you), but for those who don’t, let me briefly introduce myself.
I grew up in the Oosterflank area of Rotterdam and have always remained in and around the city. During my medical studies at Erasmus MC, I even lived in Capelle aan den IJssel for a while before moving to the center of Rotterdam. During my studies, I conducted some research and worked in hospitals, but it was during this time that I discovered my passion for general practice. That’s why I pursued the GP training, also at Erasmus MC. In recent years, I had been searching for the right practice to settle in, and when I joined the Capelle practice alongside Dr. Kersten, it immediately felt right. The openness and dedication of the patients and staff felt like a warm welcome.
Besides my work as a GP, you can often find me in Capelle aan den IJssel playing korfball, a sport I enjoy and where I spend a lot of time on and around the field. I currently still live in Rotterdam with my partner, though that may change in the future.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you better and doing my best to fill Dr. Kersten’s shoes as well as possible. Of course, it will take some adjustment, having a new GP. But beyond a new face, I hope that everything else will feel familiar and reassuring. And if that’s not the case, please don’t hesitate to let us know.
See you soon!
Kind regards,
Henk-Jan Schippers, your (new) GP.
